MHRSB Announces Network of Care

The Mental Health & Recovery Services Board has developed a new web site to launch the three-county Network of Care. The web site, accessible from www.wecarepeople.org is for individuals, families and agencies concerned with mental and emotional wellness.

The Network of Care for Behavioral Health is an online resource that provides critical information, communication and advocacy tools all in an easy to navigate site.

The Network of Care will enable consumers and families to find mental health information, identify available services, supports and community resources; and keep personal records in a secure environment.

A library on more than 4,000 health topics, direct links to legislators and bill tracking resources, access to low-cost insurance programs, and support and advocacy information are all just a few clicks away on the Network of Care

The site was made possible through a grant from the Ohio Department of Mental Health. Grants were made available to all 53 boards in Ohio, and most have developed their own relationship with the Network of Care.

Resources available through the site are:

Services – a comprehensive listing of local services for mental health, substance abuse, medical services, housing, employment, and much more.

Library – a collection of more than 30,000 articles on mental health,  parenting, legal issues, medications and medical tests. and a tremendous amount of other information, not just on behavioral health topics.

Legislate – the Network of Care helps people stay in touch with their state and national legislators and follow their activities in government. By entering a zip code, the site connects voters to their elected officials and enables them to e-mail their concerns with the click of a mouse.

The site also has links to insurance information, including how to find low-cost insurance and understand Medicare, and resources for advocacy and support groups.

One of the most useful features of the Network of Care is the My Folder link. Users can create a private folder with a password and user name. Any of the Network of Care information on services or articles can be dropped into My Folder for use at a later time. This feature can also house personal medical information such as medications, diagnoses, surgeries, and any other relevant information. All information in the folder is highly secure, using the same type of security features that are used by banks and medical information services.

The launch of the Network of Care is part of the renovation of the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board’s general web site. The goal is to make the web site much more interactive, with pictures, news, and a calendar function. h

28 Ways to Care

February's 28 Ways to Care activities were incredibly successful. The Garage "No Sale" giveaways brought in more than 600 people.

The Allen County Council on Aging, co-sponsor of the "We Care About Seniors" Big Band Dance served more than 60 senior adults, encouraging great mental health.

28 Ways to Care was a combine initiative of the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board, Lutheran Social Services, and Family Resource Centers. NAMI Hope Alliance, the Allen County Council on Aging, and Teamsters Local 908 also participated.

28 Ways to Care was a way of giving back. The agencies and partners in the We Care system receive outstanding support from our communities, and it is important to communicate our thanks. Read more about 28 Ways to Care  in the March We Care Monthly and see photos of the events!
